Why You Should Book a “Best Date Ever” Photo Session
A “Best Date Ever” Session is what I call an adventure session for engagement sessions, anniversary sessions, at-home sessions, & other non-wedding celebrations all rolled into one! Choose how to spend your time: go somewhere you love, or explore someplace new!

Adventure Sessions can be used for engagements, anniversaries, or any reason to capture the moment!
Engagement Photography
If you want to book a surprise adventure session to document your engagement, we can make it happen! Also, if you’re already engaged and want to take photos for your wedding invitations, we can do that too! Engagement photos don’t have to be taken the moment your partner pops the question, but any time throughout the process from agreeing to marry until you say, “I do.” Engagement photography sessions can be booked by the couple, or by one party as a surprise for the other.
Anniversary Sessions
Anniversary sessions can be a celebration of 1, 5, 10 or 50 years together! Also, anniversary sessions don’t need to be just for wedding anniversaries—celebrate the day you met, the day you moved in together, the day you moved to your current city, the day you overcame one of life’s obstacles, or any other major moment in your story. Anniversary sessions aren’t typically used for vow renewals—vow renewals are typically booked at the same rate as an elopement or wedding—because there is a ceremony & a bigger event getting planned.
Best-Friend Sessions
Whether your best friend is your romantic partner or a platonic partner, it can be fun to document this moment in your journey! Best-friend sessions can be a lot of fun because it’s documenting ways you two enjoy each other’s company—this can be through playing video games, having a fun day out on the town, or exploring somewhere you both enjoy. Maybe you’re both traveling together and want photos on vacation, or maybe one of you is moving & you want to celebrate the years you’ve spent as each other’s sidekick/ wingman/ teammate.
Family Sessions
Whether your family includes parents, siblings, children, or animals—getting photos together can be a precious memory! Yes, you can bring your dog (I’d actually encourage it!) Family photo sessions can happen anywhere, and the accessibly of everyone involved will be a top consideration for any locations I suggest.
Home Sessions
At-home photo sessions can be included as a part of any celebration—before or after a marriage, an anniversary, or pre-baby. You can have the home session at your own house, or it can even be done at a unique Airbnb rental. Home sessions can be made even more special by including activates—maybe the session happens during a renovation while you’re painting one of the rooms, you can cook a meal together, or even just cozy up next to the fireplace with a glass of wine while your favorite record plays.

+ How long is a "Best Date Ever" session?
Two hours
Two hours is the perfect amount of time to enjoy an activity and explore a single location. Whether you go for a short hike, grab a drink at your favorite outdoor brewery, or just hang out in your own home, two hours is ideal.
+ How many locations can we go to?
One...maybe two
"Best Date Ever" Sessions are best as single-location shoots. This is different from an elopement or wedding where we might begin the day at your rental or hotel, move to the ceremony site, and then somewhere else for the reception. But in two hours, it's best to use your time in one place that offers a mix of scenery and activity.
+ What does an adventure session cost?
$1,200
You recieve your photos via an online gallery link. You can download those images, order prints, and share the link with family and friends.
+ How many photos do you get?
150+
The number of photos you recieve will be somewhat dependent upon your chosen activity, but I guarantee you'll receive enough to showcase the entirety of the experience. The standard amount of edited photos to expect you'll recive is a minimum of 150.
I only book adventure sessions “locally”
“Best Date Ever” sessions are cheaper than my wedding photography packages because I don’t travel for them, and they don’t include the extensive event planning that is put into an elopement or wedding. Instead, I only take on “Best Date Ever” sessions that align with my already-established travel schedule. Only taking on local sessions doesn’t mean that I only photograph engagements close to home (home is Bellingham, WA), but instead that I have to already be in a place to add on one of these sessions. If that means I plan to be in Alaska in June for a wedding already, I’ll book you for one of my free dates for an if you want to explore!
You don’t have to be a local to book a local adventure session—you can travel to where I am, or book an adventure session if our vacations align. A good example of this is this session in Costa Rica—I and the couple are both from the US, but happened to be vacationing in Costa Rica at the same time!
I am on the road months each year, which means “local” is constantly changing!

What should you wear for couples photos?
Something Comfortable
Something you can sit in, stand in, dance in, or otherwise move in naturally & comfortably. You don’t want to feel trapped in your outfit while having a good time!
Something Timeless
Avoid wearing something ultra-trendy that will quickly go out of style. Classic, timeless looks will help your photos avoid feeling “outdated” at any time. Of course, embracing your style is more important than any trend or opinion.
Avoid Small Patterns & Embrace Texture
Instead of stripes or floral prints, go for textures like wool, velvet, or corduroy. Patterns look really busy unless the background is completely flat. When outdoors, the background is usually busier, so you’ll stand out more by wearing a solid color.
Wear Complimentary Colors
Don’t wear the exact same color, but choose colors that go well together & still stand out. For example, a light brown & dark brown will contrast well. Or red & green, orange & blue, pink & grey. If you have questions about coordinating outfits, I’d love to help!
