June Proposal at Mount Rainier
This proposal was mid-June at Paradise in Mount Rainier National Park. See how much snow there is on the ground? Just 2 weeks later it was almost all gone! But just a week before this session, there was nearly 12 more inches on the ground. Early summer is a difficult time to plan a session at Mount Rainier because a lot of visitors, especially those coming from hotter climates and lower elevations, have no idea what weather is like at the most topographically significant mountain in the lower 48. If you’re considering a Rainier proposal, these are some facts you should know:
Mount Rainier National Park trails are not snow-free until mid-late July.
The best-weather month for visiting Rainier is August.
The best times of day for photos are sunrise and sunset.
No matter the date or weather, pack layers to stay warm and bring microspikes in case of snow.
You will need a timed reservation to enter the park during peak season.
Rainier has two main visitor areas: Sunrise & Paradise. Paradise is open year-round and Sunrise is open early July-September.
If you come prepared, you’re going to be wowed by the beauty of this incredibly unique landscape!
