Summer at Hatchers Pass in Anchorage, Alaska

Hatcher’s Pass is one of my favorite spots for an adventurous couple’s session near Anchorage, Alaska. It’s accessible—you can drive up to some of the most spectacular views. It’s a “choose your own adventure” place with crisscrossing trails, endless vistas, and a fast-changing climate that makes every visit feel like a whole new world. If you’re considering a photography session at Hatcher’s Pass or any of the stunning surrounding areas, I highly recommend going in the summer. June will be a little cloudy, cool, and snow will be everywhere. July and August are more likely to be sunny and you’ll witness blooming wildflowers. September is when the cool air starts to settle in, but it’s the best month to witness the aurora borealis (Northern Lights) so I wouldn’t rule out a September visit!
