Hoh Rainforest Elopement | The Hall of Mosses

This Hoh Rainforest Elopement took place on one of my favorite trails—the Hall of Mosses. The loop begins at the Olympic National Park visitor’s center and meanders through some of the most epic ancient forests. The ground was slick with rain, but centuries of debris falling from the canopy overhead made it spongy underfoot, and we walked silently amongst the giants. E & M did not choose a ceremony location beforehand, instead wanting to walk under they found their place to say “I do.”

We continued along the loop trail, another .5-ish miles, to return to the parking lot. Along the way it stopped raining and we took a break to enjoy the towering moss-covered trees that seemed to enclose us into a quiet world of our own.

After a beautiful rainy ceremony amongst the old growth forests of the Olympic Peninsula, we ventured out to the coast to another corner of Olympic National Park—Ruby Beach. They began their evening with a toast to a close friend who recently passed and a moment to remember him for all the joy he brought to their individual lives and also their relationship. The sky was a little overcast, but no longer raining, and we enjoyed one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever witnessed!
